Its official! I'm off to New York City for the weekend to see the city for the first time. I have dreamed of seeing NYC my whole grown up life, and I'm thrilled for the opportunity to go see the city with my friends. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll be back Monday!

Office Envy.

 While there are so many reasons I cannot wait to move into a more permanent apartment / house, I think the reason that tops my list is my current absence of a proper home office. I have a desk in my room right now, which works out great for my year at BU. In fact, it is fabulous because I have a great view and my room is huge. However, I don't have bookcases or the decor that I someday dream of having. I do a lot of reading and typing for my work and studies, so I spend most of my time at a desk. Here are some offices that I love and hope to integrate into my future home. I like them a bit modern and simple with a touch of femininity and glam. Grays are my favorite neutrals, so naturally everything I tend to like comes in shades of gray.

Let it {kind of} Snow.

When I moved to Boston a few months ago, I heard from everyone to whom I spoke that I was in for the worst winter...ever...of my whole life. It has been cold, don't get me wrong, and certainly much colder than anything I was used to in California. On days when its 8 degrees, being outside is down right miserable. However, in my mind, when I imagined this dreadful winter I was facing, I imagined I would be moving to a winter wonderland. I imagined pristine landscapes covered in powdery white and photo opportunities galore. There has been no such thing. It has snowed twice this winter, and the first time, it was gone by morning. This weekend, it snowed all day Saturday and accumulated a few inches. Now, its sunny and a blissful 48 degrees. {I realize I may enduce a blizzard by writing this post, but I'm willing to risk it.} I got a few shots of the snow while it lasted and thought I'd share them.

Heart to Give.

{via}
 Ever since I was a little girl, I have grown up with the chance to give in service to other people. I think it is important to learn how to share some of myself with other people and make sacrifices in time and money to better the community around me. Volunteering comes in all shapes in sizes, and depending on my situation in life, I've contributed time to community in a variety of ways...at food banks, at nursing homes, at government offices, at children's hospitals, and so forth. Since moving here to Boston, I have not found an outlet for service and was starting to feel a void in my life. So, this past week a pro bono opportunity came up for me to volunteer at Community Tax Aid in Boston. CTA is an organization that assists low income tax filiers with tax return prepartion at no charge. I have volunteered to be tax return preparer and help those in my community to file their tax returns. I completed my training this past weekend and am so excited to have the chance to use my professional skills to help those in my community navigate their way through a confusing tax system.
