On the Road Again.

{via}
I am officially headed to Utah for my cousin's wedding this weekend. He will be getting married at the same place my parents got married 28 years ago, so it will be fun to go back to Salt Lake as a family. My parents also have a beautiful resort in Park City for the weekend, so I'm excited for some mountain-side study time, dinners with my family, and great conversations. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I will see you next week!

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not.

I'm not sure about all of you, but my week is flying by so quickly. I had Monday off {thanks to the Marathon and Patriot's Day!), one class today, a study day tomorrow, and then I take off to Salt Lake City to see my cousin get married. I have a lot to do to prepare for finals and to make sure I have all my wedding packing ready to go, but I wanted to share some highs and lows of my overwhelmingly fast-paced week!

1. Colorful Oxfords. It is no secret by now that I love preppy clothes. I also have fallen head over heels for all things colored coral and pink. If I could have these shirts hanging in my closet, I'd be one happy lady.

2. Inspirational Quotes. I am a quote person. I love reading them, integrating them into my photos, and using them for inspiration. This is one of my recent favorites.

 3. Popcorn Blossoms. I have no idea what the real name of these flowers are, but as a little girl, I called them popcorn blossoms. They are one of my favorite spring time flowers and lucky for me, they are all over Boston!

4. City Living. I absolutely love living downtown in a city in a high rise building. If there is one thing I will miss about Boston most, it is living in the middle of a city. I love the background noises of the sirens, taxis, and garbage trucks, and the appeal of the beautiful facades and skyscrapers still amazes me.

1. End of Desperate Housewives. I love this show...and the ladies of Wisteria Lane...and I'm sad it's ending. For the past 8 years, when my sister moved away from home, we made it a tradition to watch the show together for every Sunday night. It was a fun way to still hang out together even though we lived far away and always made going back to work and school on Monday more bearable. I am sad to see our Sunday Night staple end after quite an era.

2. Missing the Dog Beach. I love to take Bentley to the dog beach, but he lives too far away. I can't wait to get back to Cali and take him to play in the sand.

3. Leaving Leggings Behind. Here in Boston, a staple piece of my wardrobe became Hunter rain boots, leggings, an oversized sweater, and a scarf. Now that the cold weather has dissipated, leggings and rain boots seem a bit warm for April Showers. I still have to walk everywhere, so still get wet, but am dying of heat if I wear the rain boots and leggings. It's quite my spring time dilemma.

4. My Alarm. I wish there were some way less jarring than waking up to an alarm clock. In Cali, I had a lovely music alarm clock that allowed me to wake up to a mix and then just wave my hand in front of it to snooze (which I shamelessly LOVE to do). Here, I didn't bring my fancy clock and am stuck with an alarm. Not fun.

Marathon Monday!

Marathon Monday is one of Boston's biggest tourist attractions, and I was thrilled to have the day off of school to participate in the festivities. One of my good friends and I embraced the crowds and sweltering heat to cheer on the 22,000 runners making their way from Mile 24 to Mile 26. It was so fun to get out and see all these accomplished athletes, especially since a friend of mine from California was running the race. I have been running for the first time since I moved to Boston and have set a goal to run a half marathon in 2012. After seeing these runners today, I have officially decided that in 4 years when I am 30, I want to be back in Boston to run the marathon! I figure that will give me time to get a few marathons under my belt and gain the speed to qualify for Boston. The event was spectacular and another great Boston experience!

Forever Love.

Three years ago today, my dear grandmother passed away. It's always a bitersweet day of remembrance for me because I no longer have her in my life. She cannot come to my graduation, she cannot come to my future wedding, she cannot come to my orchestra concerts, she cannot comfort me when I feel defeated, and she is not here to give me a "big squeeze," make a blender of homemade juice, and talk the night away. A woman before her time, my grandma served in the navy, graduated college, and even started a master's program. She was stronger than words can describe and became for me a beacon of kindness, a source of true love, an example of unfettering acceptance. I came across this Emily Dickinson quote today, and it struck a cord with me. My grandma may not be here to pick up the phone or brighten the room with her smiling face, but she will always be with me.

So friends, I share with you in my tearful yet ever-joyous memory of my grandma.

Somewhere, I believe she is smiling when I smile, crying when I cry, and sharing in every step of my life.
